Dinner Buffet with BFFs at Silver Shell Cafe- Shangrila Rasa Sentosa (6April 2014)
Time for me to put in make up again! Instead of flooding the whole post with my selfie, I collaged them instead :)
This was the 2nd time we came to silver shell fish restaurant which is under shangrila rasa sentosa but compared to the previous time. This time it was a complete failure I would say. 1st, we were turned off by the Chinese security Aunty who looked alittle manly... We were about to turn into the carpark of shangrila when even before asking where we were going, directed us away. We turned to the side where she pointed to and saw that it was the underwater world carpark so we turned back to the shangrila carpark instead. We asked her if that was the car park and she told us yes but that's a residents carpark and told us to go to the public car park instead. Feeling weird, I told her but we are going to the restaurant... And she questioned again what restaurant, after telling her that we are going to silver shell restaurant, she who doesn't seem to believe us , repeated, you sure u going to silver shell huh? Wth, she is looking down on us? Thinking that we can't afford it ? Bloody hell.
But don't let her spoil our mood, upon entering the restaurant which was still well maintained, we were lead to the middle section of it which was with lesser lights and lesser people.
The varieties of food this time round was rather limited
The cooked food section
This was average,
Jefferson complained that this fish wasn't very nice so I didn't try it
Peking duck
There is too little meat
And the limited seafood. Only 3 types! This is the only hotel buffet which doesn't serve salmon..zzzzzz
Jefferson again complained that the red snapper fish is not tasty though I feel that it was ok.
And finally the dessert section which is both Jeff and my favourite!
The 3 trays of sushi which make up the sushi counter
And the limited seafood. Only 3 types! This is the only hotel buffet which doesn't serve salmon..zzzzzz
The crab only left a little when we first saw it. but subsequently they did top up
The Kids Corner
The kids corner is tastefully decorated and the counters were lower for the kids. Juices were available for the children but not for the adults. There also isnt cups/glasses available at the counter. If you need any glass or cups for your kids, you need to get from the staff. Something which I feel they can improve on. I do not understand why they do not provide the juices for the adults at all? How expensive can the juices be.. but i guess they just wanted the adults to order drinks from them
The Orion Rings, chicken stew and mixed vegetables above were all from the Kids corner. They have specially catered the 3 dishes for the kids. You can get them if you want actually. Both Jeff and I took the creamy chicken stew. He likes it but not Mr Cheong and me.
I also thought that the beef slices werent too bad too but Jeff disliked it claiming that it isnt juicy and tender enough
The chicken stew which looks too spicy for me... and none of us actually tried this.
The Indian Vegetarian Section
(My first serving)
Mr Cheong's first serving
Mr Jefferson Liew's first serving!
HAHAH Mr Liew cant take seafood so he has to pig himself with the cooked food....
All of us had the lobster bisque even though, Jeff only had 1 mouthful from Eva's serving.
The fondue section was pathetically small
Something different from the usual hotel buffet dinner, Silver shell provides crepe as part of its dessert selection
It was about 9 pm and the staff has stopped re stocking the cakes in the fridge. Thus I didnt take any photos of the cakes inside. Most of them are like left with only 1-2 pieces. Eva managed to get 3 tiny pieces of black forest cake for us to try. and yes it was not bad but I think the one from Rendevous hotel is much better
I took the last Ang Ku Kueh from the display and it taste horrible. The skin is so thick that you cant taste what was inside it. Totally regretted taking that.
These 3 above are not bad. Especially the raspberry one with the pink flower chocolate.
The chocolate cake was not bad, tiramisu was average
Mr Cheong loves the Passionfruit ice cream and he ate a total of 3 scoops. The rest of us didnt really fancy passionfruit ice cream as it was too sour for the rest of us. I prefer the Matcha ice cream instead.
For the price of $58++ for each pax with a 20% discount. I think that the food served was not worth it at all. There is little variety to choose from and the food wasnt that splendid. Most probably we wont come back again though previously we had quite a good experience here.
