Review :Pratunam Pavilion
Just thought I will add in my reviews on hotels from now on... have been doing a number of review on tripadvisor... but didnt really update my blog... so here is it.... for those who wants to read more of my reviews on hotels all over the world... feel free to search for me :)
Review :Pratunam Pavilion (1April- 4April 2012)
“not as bad as what some reviews have mentioned”
I did not check out the hotel prior to booking. Got to know the hotel through a deal which ive bought. It comes in a package inclusive of flights and transport from airport to hotel. As quoted from the deal site 'a luxury hotel with a perfect decorative room. The modern Thai-boutique contemporary decoration style as well as high class in-room amenities will make your stay cozy and comfortable.' my fiance and I thought that it was at least a 4 star hotel. We were a little disappointed upon reaching the hotel. It was a small scale hotel which should be 3 star?
The location of the hotel is good to be in the Pratunam area which is a whole sale market. It is also rather near to platinum mall which is great for shopping. however, like what other reviewers have mentioned, not many tuk tuks or taxi drivers know exactly where this hotel is located. I think most probably it is due to the hotel being very new.
I stayed in room 1005 which is clean but not very big.
the toilet has a 'glass wall' which can be covered by a blind. thus, i would say it is only suitable for couples..or unless u trust your friend not to draw the blinds from outside or peep at you when u are bathing.
The hot water system was rather horrible for the first 2days of stay. with intermittent cold water.
The staff were not very good in English, when we wanted to report to them about not getting hot water in our room. The first person came to our room with toilet paper. We tried telling her that it was not toilet paper but our hot water system.. and she just smiled and nodded saying come back later. The 2nd staff came, now with toiletries. We kinda gave up and got the staff to follow us to the bathroom where we signalled to her about the hot water. it was then, she finally understood. She got us a technician after trying very hard to solve our problem for us. The technician came, claimed to come back in 10min. but never return. I had to bathe in the cold water as I cant wait anymore. the next time i bathed at night it seemed ok already. but the very next day, i got intermittent showers of cold water again. gave up. however, n the 4th day,the problem seemed to be resolved.
2nd day of my 4 day stay, besides not getting hot water,our tv gone hay wired too. suddenly blank out and there was nothing on the screen.. after abt 15min. the images came back again. I overheard others commenting that there seem to be a black out every morning in the hotel.
another good about the hotel was its breakfast. incomparable to the variety provided by 5star hotel but the food were tasty. my fiance and I love the spread.
Free wifi but the id and password only last 24hours. there is a internet station on the first floor. but i am not sure if it is free. and there is no swimming pool :<
