THE PRICE OF I DO (Part 1)

This time round we are in Sunday Times - Life Section on 18 January 2015

Had the interview before Mr Cheong and I went for our Anniversary trip in dec but the article was only out on the 18th Jan 2015

Title: The Price of I Do
Written by Journalist Lee Jian Xuan

Summary of the article : Weddings are getting expensive and a traditional banquet in a 5 stars hotel is even more expensive.

At the end of the day,
- I hope that those elderly who come across this article will not insist that their children hold their wedding banquet in a top notch hotel if they cant afford it.. (not that I was being forced to hold mine in Sheraton Towers since the reason why our banquet was held there was simply because we fell in love with the hotel after hotels hopping)
- guests who attend any wedding banquet to subsidize the couple a little if you can afford it and not think that the wedding costs are like what it used to be 5 years ago.
- guests who have R.S.V.P please do not fly kite the last minute, make sure you turn up.

For the couples:
- Please be prepared for a loss and do not take it that your guests need to give you the "market rate" I believe you have invited the guests because you want to share with them your happiness.
Although we were prepared for a loss, but the 18k loss came to us as a surprised. It almost "doubled" our expection.
- Spend within your means

Side note: I wasnt expecting the article to come out in Xinmin as well but here it is for those who prefers to read the Chinese version

There are actually many different ways to reduce the total wedding costs which I will cover when I have time :) so keep a look out for it :)
