Taiwan trip 27 feb 2014 day 2 - Cingjing here we come

Today is day 2 of our Taiwan trip this year. Typing this while waiting for dear dear to come out of the toilet. He wasn't feeling gd after our breakfast.

Initially wanted to start off early today as we planned to go cingjing... But in the end we woke up late n dear decided to go for a jog ... We left for our breakfast at Abt 11am. Just went to a breakfast shop 早餐店 near our minsu called 晴天廚房I ordered a set of 火腿蛋餅 n 紅茶豆漿

Cost: 25NT +15NT

My 火腿蛋餅 dint taste as nice as what we had need kee lung 2 years ago.. The skin of the 火腿蛋餅 is to thick for my liking n 紅茶豆漿 taste more like red bean with soya than red tea 

 while mr Cheong ordered a combo set (gyoza n saugages) and 晴天豆漿.

After our breakfast, we went to wait for the bus to Taichung HSR station. We waited for a very long time n guess what?? We actually missed the bus160 It doesn't look like the one which we had taken yesterday. Today the bus became a small 'condo' shuttle bus instead of the big coach we has taken yesterday... We decided to take cab instead as we have heard that once we have missed the bus in Taichung we will need to wait at least 30min for the next.. It cost us 250NT to reach Taichung HSR station... Upon alighting Mr Cheong went to the toilet to throw up..

From the HSR station go towards exit 5 n u will see a booth selling bus tickets to nantou... We paid NT600 each for return tickets to cingjing n entrance tickets to 青青草原. 

 This is the bus schedule from Taichung HSR station to cingjing. We took the 1245 bus... At Abt 1242, the staff told us to q up n the bus came exactly at 1245. We were quite amazed with the punctuality of even their buses! Won't it meet with any traffic congestion?? 

Our tickets also come with some discount coupons for guesthouse too..

We decided to alight at the 小瑞士花圓 station... N I'm glad we did... The moment we alighted we were greater by the "carton king" aka 紙箱王... Store #6.

Mr Cheong now felt hungry thus we went to the 7-11 outlet which was just beside to grab a bite.. and as usual 7-11 doesnt have anything much except for lok lok

Next we paid 120nt to enter the Swiss garden (清境小瑞士花園)

 which is just beside. We were also each given a 20nt vouchers.. Which we can 'exchange' for food in e tiny cafe inside... 

Almost everyone we saw ordered a scoop of ice cream which costs 40nt(cheapest item) If u spent 300nt or more dining at the carton king restaurant, u will be able to exchange for 1 tickets to little Swiss garden.. Perhaps the timing is not correct. The flowers are not blooming yet n the garden is a little disappointing 

like the rest, we also ordered ice cream. we only use 1 coupon there though..and we ordered the champagne grape flavour which was quite yummy

We left the garden in less than 1 hour... 

Opposite is the cingjing guesthouse which u can also take a walk there.. There are quite a couple of cherry blossoms trees 

 Near there is also a small building with a few interesting shops.

First is the Lavender Cottage shop.

shop called 'little old England" which is pretty attractive, u can order some food n sit in at the restaurant 

Imagine dining at such beautiful place. We were quite surprise when the staff told us this is the place to dine in... Beautiful!!!!

But it was Abt time for us to meet the pick up person to our guest house. 

I booked starry house which is supposed to be at the highest point of cingjing. Initially tried booking other guest house but all fully booked... It was a super basic guesthouse. They allocate us a 4 pax room even though they are only 2 of us. 

Cause they say this is the last room. We were told that our room is located at a very gd location for star grazing... 

We booked this guest house at 2400nt a night n it includes a steamboat dinner n breakfast. So it was rather worth it actually... 

 

We thought that the portion was just nice for 2 PAx. If u have more than 2 pax, maybe u can buy some food up from the 7-11 store at little Swiss garden there or pay to top up for more 'Liao'.. There were many Singaporeans staying at the guest house but many groups actually have a tour guide with them... N we even overheard some complaining that the steamboat looks more like a vegetarian steamboat instead ....

We decided to sit at our 'garden' to do a little star grazing after dinner. No stars actually coz the sky was misty.... 

We decided to go back to our room n rest after a while... Cause we need to wake up at 3+am the next morning for sunrise at 合歡山  (a last min decision to travel there)
