27 April : Olive Tree @ Intercontinental hotel

Booked our buffet dinner at Olive Tree, Intercontinental Hotel Singapore last sunday and finally, 1 week has passed and we are going for the buffet dinner today.
We are going to meet Jeff and Eva there at 7pm for our dinner.

Jeff and Eva were already there when we reached and we went into Olive tree immediately.

The nearest to the entrance is actually the seafood section.

There are actually quite a number of varieties. Besides prawns, mussels, oysters, scallops, crayfish is also included.
On the same counter, you can also find

smoked salmon

Glass noodles

The salad bar

Gado Gado

We started off with the seafood spread which we love. All of us were happy with the spread except for JEff who doesnt take seafood. However, both Mr Cheong and Eva who tried the Oyster didnt like it so much, Eva said that there was a fishy smell while Mr Cheong claimed that it wasnt fresh.

I like the prawns, crayfish, scallops and mussels. The smoked salmon was a little too salty for me (It is usual for smoked salmon to be salty though. Overall, we were happy with the seafood spread. None of us took the salad from the salad bar.  Both Mr Cheong and especially Jeff likes the gado gado but I was too full to eat that subsequently

By the side of our table there is a pillar where there is a cheese station. Mr Cheong and JEff kept stealing the grapes from the cheese section where they used the grapes as decorations.zzz. Mr Cheong did try to taste the cheese though.

While I only took the carrot sticks

Next is the noodles and grilled section. There is only 1 staff there so in case there is a crowd, you gotta be patient. Besides being in charge of the noodles and roast section, he is also in charge of the sashimi section. The sashimi section serves swordfish(kajiki), salmon, octopus.

Sad to say, Olive only served mutton for grill, no other meat. But I find that the mutton was good. no Muttony taste at all. I had mine with mint sauce, if you do not like mint, you can choose to go with their brown sauce instead

Mr Cheong likes the pork chop with orange. But he took the pineapples from the fruits section to go with his pork chop instead...

The Malay food counter:

and Finally my favourite! The dessert section! Olive has one of the biggest dessert section which I have came across. Look at the round counter! Yes! all of them are dessert!

I saved my stomach space for the dessert and I tried at least 90% of them. Lets take a quick look at the variety

To go with the dessert you can request for Black Tea or coffee

The cream puff wasnt fantastic and a little disappointing

The above is only for those who take cream. cause 90% of it is made of cream! underneath it is just some weird tasting thingy

The pandan cake was quite good. but it would be better if there is less sponge

Do not be deceived by the look of the strawberry cake on top. It looks good but it tasted horrible. Both Jefferson and I took one mouth of it and discard the rest

A very normal mini cup of fruits cocktail

This we thought was quite good as the bubble when burst will have some sweet syrup flowing out.

All of us love their ice cream. Their green tea and sesame ice cream were fantastic. Very authentic Japanese taste. While Mr Cheong loves the strawberry ice cream such that he ate 3 scoops!!!!

We went for their 1-1 promo using safra card. So in the end we spent about S$40/pax We felt that the spread was quite good and much better than Silver shell fish! Will we come back again? I would say.. yes maybe.
