MEI HONG YUEN DESSERT @ CHINATOWN POINT (29 May - Part 2)
Ate once with Mr Cheong at their Ion Orchard outlet quite some time ago. This was the very first time that I tried their dessert at the Chinatown point outlet. Read on to find out about how I felt after the visit
I didnt know that Mei Heong Yuen dessert is something which you should try when you are in China town area. It seems to be one of the icon of Chinatown.
(copied from their website)
Mei Heong Yuen is proud to be one of the “Singapore Chinatown Heritage Brands”, an initiative by Chinatown Business Association to introduce long established heritage brand names to Singapore visitors.

We were greeted by a gigantic, made believe chendol shaved ice at the entrance
We ordered Mango shaved ice and a watermelon & Lychee shaved ice.
Mango Shaved ice
It is the safest for non adventurous eater like me. Usually mango dessert is good and indeed it is. It was refreshing to have ice but kinda becoming too cold as we tried to finish up the ice along the way
Few small cubes of fresh mangoes were given. It would be good if they give more.
Watermelon & Lychee shaved ice
For the watermelon & Lychee shaved ice, we felt that the watermelon taste overwhelmed the Lychee taste. You would be able to taste the lychee if you taste both flavours at the same time. You will need to eat them separately to taste the lychee.
The shaved ice was topped with 2 lychees and some of those pearly looking things and aloe vera. To our disappointment, the lychees, those pearly things and the aloe vera werent fresh. We spit them out after tasting the sourish/spoilt taste. :(
We paid $11 in total for the 2 shaved ice which I personally felt they werent worth it. Doubt I will patronise it again anytime soon. Though my 3 sisters patronise them again 1 week after our visit...
